Viivi Huuska is a Finnish director and photographer now based in Copenhagen. Born in 1989, she began performing among drag queens at sixteen, and this nurturing, free environment gave her a carnivalesque perspective and a deep understanding of gender and empowerment. Her photographs and videos are known for their unmistakable style, seducing viewers in unconventional ways while exploring gender, femininity and body activism. Huuska’s clients range from film production companies to editorial magazines, fashion designers and record labels, and she collaborates with Finland’s most popular music artists. As a director of commercials she has crafted an intimate storytelling style that resonates universally. She admits to being deathly afraid of birds and draws inspiration from pop culture, serial‑killer documentaries, airports and sci‑fi films.
